Selkirk Judo Club

Program Information

The Selkirk Judo Club was founded 50 years ago by Don Gifford.  Since that time, countless area residents have learned judo at the club.  The Club currently has over 90 members.

Our dojo (training hall) is located at the Lord Selkirk High School, in the Upper Gym.  Our regular classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The Club offers four programs:

Regular Classes (September to May)

Classes are as follows:

  • Junior class – for children age 7 – 12, this program runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 7:50 p.m.
  • Senior class – for those age 13 and up, this program runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8 – 9:30 p.m.

The registration fee for our 2018 – 2019 regular season classes is $225 for the first person in a family and $175 for each additional person in the same immediate family.

We offer a TWO WEEK FREE MEMBERSHIP to everyone trying one of our regular classes.  This gives the prospective member an opportunity to try the sport without financial commitment.

Judo 5 & 6 (Fall 2018 session is full)

The Club offers a special program for children age 5 and 6. The program runs on Monday nights from September 17 to November 12, 2018 (except October 8). Classes are on Mondays from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m

The registration fee for this program is $60 and pre-registration is required.  Uniform rental is included in the registration fee.

Interlake Summer Judo Camp 2019 (Dates TBA)

The Club offers a four day summer judo camp in late July each year.  This is for beginners and members age 7 – 14.  No prior knowledge of judo is required.  Along with judo classes, activities include soccer, team handball, various judo games, judo videos, arts and crafts, science projects and many others.
