Damien Ekosky wins two bronze in Argentina

Damien Ekosky is returning from Argentina with two bronze medals, after impressive performances in the Pan American Cadet Judo Championships and the South America Championships.  Both tournaments were held in Cordoba, Argentina.

On Friday, July 1, Damien competed in the Pan Am Championships.  He had a bye through the first round and won his second round match against Jorge Perez from Chile.  He was defeated by Gilberto Cardoso from Mexico in the semi-finals before coming back with a victory against Brian Aliaga of Peru in the bronze medal match.

On Sunday, July 3, Damien competed in the South America Championships.  While some fighters fought in both tournaments, there were also some changes in the draw.  Damien again finished with a 2 win and 1 loss record, earning another bronze medal for his efforts.

“Damien finishes his competitive season as national champion, and with 2 bronze medals in only his second trip with the national team,” said one of the club’s coaches, Brian Jones.  “This was a great finish to a very impressive competitive season.”

Damien now takes some well deserved rest before training begins for the 2016 – 2017 tournament season.
