Damien Ekosky Wins Bronze at Ontario Open Judo Tournament

Damien Ekosky competed at the Ontario Open Judo Tournament held November 7 – 8, 2015 in Toronto.  The tournament is one of the largest judo tournaments in Canada, with around 500 entries this year.

Damien Ekosky (16, brown belt) finished with 2 wins and 1 loss to earn a bronze medal in U18 Men under 73 kg.  There were around a dozen fighters in his division.  His only loss was in the semi-final to the eventual silver medalist, Alexandre Arencibia from Quebec.

This medal follows his bronze medal performance at the Quebec Open last weekend. “Having just moved up to the under 73 kg division from under 66, Damien has done very well in his first two major tournaments of the season,” said Brian Jones, one of the club’s coaches.

Damien also competed in the Senior Men under 73 kg division, accumulating a record of 2 wins and 2 losses.  He finished out of the medals.
