Selkirk Judo Club

2013 Edmonton International

The Selkirk Judo Club sent a team of 8 fighters to the Edmonton International tournament held at the West Edmonton Mall from April 5 – 7, 2013.  This tournament drew over 700 entries from across Canada, and also drew competitors from the US, the Czech Republic, Brazil and Japan.     

The Club returned with 3 medals – 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. 

Justin Ekosky (12, green belt) led the way with a gold medal in U13 Boys under 46 kg.  Justin won 4 straight matches en route to the first place finish, including a match against Dean Logodin from Lethbridge in the gold medal final. There were 11 competitors in Justin’s division. 

Damien Ekosky (13, blue belt) won silver in U15 Boys under 60 kg.  Damien won his first two matches before dropping the gold medal match to Benjamin Kendrick from Ontario.  Damien had 8 competitors in his division.

Joey Kuch (13, blue belt) finished third in U15 Boys over 66 kg.  He won 3 matches and lost one.  Joey had 8 competitors in his division.
